It's MGS2, and it's hard as hell.

HD collection. I'm looking how the pros do it on youtube and that seems like a lot of time to use to get to that skill level.

Kick ass collection I must say. Have it myself as well and played the shit out of MGS3.
And yeah. It's astounding how well they manage to beat the game in... what? 2 hours? They pretty much know the game inside out.
Actually, I've been trying a few tricks myself as well, but I never manage to do them correctly.

MGS3 is my favorite so far.
I played MGS2 on the original Xbox back in the day and it's alright. VR Missions are fun to do.
Peace Walker's controls are much better on Xbox 360/PS3 controller. I played it on a PSP and it only managed to cramp my hands while playing.

They expanded the VR Missions from MGS1 and made a standalone game just for them. Tell you what, you could actually play as the ninja.

Is MG3 easier than MG2?

I have to say no.
Most of the time you spend your time in a jungle. You also have to keep an eye on your stamina as it will degrade as the time passes. Also any silencer on your weapon will wear out after a certain amount of shots fired. You also don't have a clear map that shows where enemies are. Well, there's motion detector, but it only shows dots on the map. It doesn't include any image of the environment.

That's sounds ridiculously difficult. And that's on easy mode

Compared to MGS2 you have no stamina bar to look out for, silencers don't seem to wear out and you have a clear map that shows where enemies are.

So I'm screwed, aren't I?

It ain't so hard really.
You can regain your stamina by killing and eating the wildlife in the jungle.
There are new suppressors scattered around the game but there are only few you can find.
For the map... well, you can't pretty much do anything for it since the game takes place in 1960's so developers thought it would be wise to actually have the equipment of... well, 1960's. At least that's what I think.
I recommend at least trying it. It's good.
