yo for real tho MGO3 suxxd. Well not entirely. The lag was just unbearable, and you'd get CQC'd from 6,000,000 light years away, but you could be breathing down someones neck and drooling on them but you wouldn't be able to CQC them. Overall a very frustrating experience.

SAME. I also get conniptions every time I see the MGS3 Pachinko FOX Engine renders. So much potential wasted.

it's a disgrace. wasn't going to believe it at first but then I was like it really came down to MGS literally turned into a pachinko. just dislike how all that time and effort was used on the re-made cutscenes and everything and that's the only way that is going to show. the announcement video was awful already but you can now even find actual "gameplay" of how the machine works.
anyway, that MGO was good that came with MGS4. I never played the MGO that came with MGS3 but there are some revival projects going for that and MGO2, but they require some tech fiddling to get that sorted.
the new MGO is just... well I tried to like, I really did. it has way less game modes than MGO2, it has very lacking customization, it has very bad selection of maps and what it really boils down to is just a mindless shooter instead of tactical experience, just use the custom match select and you'll see tons of bounty hunter rooms, maybe cloak and dagger less than a handful, same with comm point modes... and them to release a "definitive" edition already means they're pretty much done with it, and the quiet DLC being "all" DLC for the online portion is just so fucking funny.
it's sad to see this shit happening to it when I considered MGO2 as one of the more unique online experiences I've had, and this just does everything in reverse and wrong.
well, such is life.

I share that "okay but ultimately disappointing" sentiment with MGS:V in general. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is fucking phenomenal, but after playing through all or most of the other MGS just a few months before V's release, I was so hyped for the story and it fell so short.

the story was set up leading to a major boom to end the saga. whatever became of chapter 3 is a mystery, and they had a lot of concept art, cutscene animation, lines recorded and the story written for it. it was explained by one of the people working with kojima that it was "intended" referring to the games name - phantom pain, that it would leave the player feeling like something is there, but quite isn't. I kinda get it, but at the same time I kinda refuse to believe that explanation.
I guess I still like doing the FOB events for camos and stuff, but seem to be done with the main thing for the most part. just cba to S rank every mission and objective even if they unlock stuff and count for the 100% completion... maybe someday. though fultoning shit is always fun. also need to hunt all the animals and stuff.
at least it isn't lacking replayability I guess, but feels more like stupid busywork.

Yeah, which I don't really think works as a Metal Gear: Solid title. Maybe as something else, but when I think of **solid** I think of long cutscenes, insane boss fights, silly AI gimmicks and most of all, story. Admittedly, there were some fun-ass AI mechanics in V. Mainly bonking people on the head with magazines.

and when the bonking works in MGO too, so it can lead to some fun moments.
also will say that the shitty DLC for MGO was ripped straight from the main game and just renamed it and packaged it and said that it's perfect, that's a good dlc to charge for, same shit seemingly continues with MG:Survive
