What do you think about the Switch Lite?

it's a welcome addition I think. I could see myself getting one for its better portability and better d-pad, but that's only if I wanted and needed it.
I use the base model switch mainly in tv mode and a pro controller. I like the base model switch as engineering feat, but it doesn't feel too durable and sturdy for me to do prolonged handheld gameplay with the joycons.

aaand DS aaand gameboy... possibly...
tetris 99 is getting or got, I don't know, a physical release so imagine a switch lite and tetris 99 as a bundle ... just like gameboy did with tetris back in the day ...

I never use Switch portable on base model so I don't much use for the lite either, but it looks cool

since switch lite already exists, would you think there's any chance of something like switch plus happening eventually? basically a more powerful switch.
I'd say no but could be wrong.
Switch isn't like the rest of the crowd that have near identical hardware and architecture to make software easier to port over to the next fellow. All the games on switch pretty much have to be written from scratch and custom built since switch isn't another PC in a box type of system. Probably why it has not taken off that well among some of the bigger publishers because the games would need additional labor to be functional on switch and then further optimizations. Then there's the undeniable fact that making movies- I mean *games* has gotten way out of control and expensive, perhaps nintendo essentially thought that they won't be going that route to burn several hundreds of millions on each game they make or their partners... hence their games stay very colorful and simplistic looking. and yeah while I've seen and played those big budget titles I don't say that as a bad thing, if anything I respect their willingness to take risks and in the end it seems to have paid off since switch is very popular around the world and it does have third party support as well as their own studios making games for it. looking good so far.
I do enjoy my switch since it goes back to basics so to say and hopefully stays that way.
I find the insisting that there should be a more powerful switch kind of bizarre concept, if at this point the bells arent ringing enough loud to say that well nintendo had all the years in R&D to see what others do and the console only launching in 2017, isn't it obvious what their aim is... that is to function as their own separate entity from the rest, to not expect them to follow what others do, but instead doing their own thing.
regardless, I'm hoping 2020 will be even better for switch software wise and switch online also will be getting some bigger things. I do like SNES games though, super metroid is damn atmospheric game with great BGMs ... star fox 1 and 2 take time getting used to since the games are a bit rough to play especially since I'm used to more consistent frame rates and so on, but I like them for what they are and were back in the day. Kinda wish I could've played them back then, but can't have everything in life dood.

Switch Pro also doesn't make sense since most first party games won't get a boost in graphics since like you said they are already simple to begin with.

it would seem by design they are mostly made simplistic because it's not just about pursuing polycounts or demanding GFX in form of effects and such, can adapt and create their own stylish way to bring out the visuals if bruteforcing some engine preset of effects doesn't cut it because it bogs down the system... just need to have that effort. obviously things aren't on par with the ones with more beef, but all the same playable. have played skyrim and overwatch for example, everythings just fine.
that lite still probably pretty comfy to have one day... perhaps perhaps.

Just get it now and sell it if you don't want it anymore

on a second thought, it probably is why i never really got into the handheld games because i'm too used to playing on larger screens.
maybe just stick to the regular switch in that case.

I find that it's a game I could sink hours into without noticing or playing anything else. Suppose it does its job then.
